Cooking with a preschooler can really slow you down, but sometimes it’s about the journey and not the destination. We are putting our Kinder Kitchen Knife to work to help our almost 4-year-old build up her strength in the kitchen. Helping a preschooler learn to cut takes a lot of patience and practice, but it can be a lot of fun. Our daughter is always so impressed with herself once she sees the finished product. I want to extend this enthusiasm as long as possible as someday working in the kitchen might not be as fun.
I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and I think it is helpful for the kids to understand the work involved to create a meals. It is also a wonderful way to spend time with the kids, while checking a few things off the to do list.
I highly recommend doing research and finding a knife that is a great fit depending on your kids age. Be sure to teach them important safety skills before putting the knife to work and always supervise. Try to find a knife that is solid and not flimsy to protect their little fingers. Most importantly it must be easy to hold for their little hands.
