Today we enjoyed local strawberries, nectarines and pitted cherries. We are soaking up as much of these as we can before they disappear until next year. These fruits are rich in antioxidants and phytonutrients. 🍓
Why are these important?
According to the NIH (National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, antioxidants are natural substances that may prevent or delay some types of disease-producing cell damage that can result from natural bodily processes or from exposure to chemicals. 🍒
Phytonutrients are plant nutrients with specific biological functions that can support human health. What is amazing is that phytonutrients have pharmacological effects, without the side effects. They are also more affordable than other health care alternatives.
